Top 10!!!!!
Convention has been awesome so far. The internet connection from our rooms just stinks, so I haven't been able to do updates as I would have liked. Today we had a general session (full of lots and lots of new products) and we got our Fall Idea Books. After lunch we had 3 hours of make and take art sessions, and then unit meetings this evening. Christine and I also attended the Extravaganza meeting and are thrilled for our teaching time on Saturday afternoon.
I'm short on time, but do have to share, however, that My "Evan" album made the Top 10!!!! YAY!!! So we will find out the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as Consultant's Choice) tomorrow night. I'm sooooooooo excited.
It's been really neat to connect with women and hear their adoption stories (and with others who have shared their struggles with grief). Thank you to everyone who came up to me today and expressed their condolences, and gave hugs. It really meant so much to me that my album would touch you so deeply that you would share your stories with me. For those not at convention, I will be posting it in it's entirety when I return home. I hope that by sharing my story, it will help bring healing to many more poeple.
Many blessings, and I'm so excited to post some art with new goodies upon my return!!!

I made it!
Christine (my roomie) is here too and we are already having a blast. I'll try to update as much as I can, but you may not hear much from me in the next week.
Have a great week everyone!

Davenport Family Reunion
I shot all of these with my Nikon D70, using a 50 mm, f:1.8 lens. I shot in Aperture priority mode, and because the lighting was not consistant, I used exposure compensation quite a bit. If you have any more detailed questions, just leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer.

Happy Dance
...well sort of. I was working on Card Class cards for August this evening and came up with this! I'm really proud of it. The picture in no way does it justice.... The tulips are stamped on our twill stick stock and then colored in with markers. All of the papers were edge distressed and most of them are raised with 3d foam. I also used my new SU! punch to give the notebook paper effect. I think that pretty much covers all the supplies I used too - (papers are hollyhock cs, bamboo text. cs, pattern from floral tapestry, desert sand text. cs)
Inspired by wrapping paper
Anywhoodiddly, all I saw were the cute cherries when I bought the paper. So imagine my surprise and delight when I get home and find the pink stripes on the back! Oh I was in heaven. It even inspired a little creativity this evening...
Don't look too closely - it's a humility card. This is a reference to something Kathi posted a long while ago on her blog about quilts that had one square sewn with intention mistakes to keep the quilter humble. So when you blow a card and don't feel like redoing it - you can consider it a humilty card and move on.
supplies: All products CTMH - watermelon b&t paper (retired), Solo 9 stamps, May SOTM Say it in Style stamps, black ink, clover meadow cs, kiwi marker, clover meadow marker, bubblegum marker, watermelon marker, 3d foam. card size is 3.5x4.

Awesome!
I found this on Pammie's blog. I've not had a typing test in over 10 years, so I thought it would be fun. I actually surpised myself too - didn't know I was that fast (and with 100% accuracy)! Must come from all the IMing and blogging I do. LOL. =)
Yes I'm a dork and keep retaking the test to get better scores. =P
Scrapbook Class Reminder
Here is the layout I'm teaching this Sunday for scrapbook class. The coolest thing about this class, is that each layout featured below uses the EXACT SAME papers! The difference is that the top layout uses the front of the plaid paper and the back of the black swirl paper. The second layout uses the back of the plaid paper and the front of the swirl paper. Isn't that just too cool? So I'm letting my students pick the look they like best, and we'll go from there.
If you are in the greater Seattle area and would like to attend my class just post a message in the comments section with your email address and I'll get back to you.

Another Color Challenge

Okay, so mine has some black in it. It needed a little something to make it pop! ;)

Non-CTMH supplies: SU! felt flowers, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots template, Zots glue dots.
Friend Card
I did get some fun things recently however, and just had to sit down and play today. I whipped this card up in about 10 minutes. Supplies are listed below. I think it's cute enough to submit, so I'm going to try my luck at getting published. If it disappears off the site, you'll know why! Wish me luck.
Non-CTMH supplies: Foam mounting tape (Scotch), Spiral Bound punch (SU!), tombo adhesive

Finally Home!
I have to toot my own horn. You see, I've never been a roller coaster girl, but on this trip I've discovered that I really **love** them. In fact, I took the plunge and road on California Screamin' last night! It was AWESOME!!!!!!!! My little love bug Samantha seems to enjoy the scary rides too. She was too short to ride this one, but she did go on Splash Mountain!
(ps... I didn't film this - just found it on youtube. If you get motion sick, you might not want to watch).

Happy 4th! (and top secret sneak peek)
Hubby is home today (yay!) and he's giving me some time to catch up on the million projects I have to finish before we go to California next week. One of those projects is a new video all about how to decorate the CTMH Linen Albums.
One of the albums covers I'll be showing in the video is the one below. Also, remember a few weeks ago how I teased you all about 2 top secret projects I've been working on? Well this is one of them. Every convention CTMH hosts an album contest, and since the due date was July 1st, I'm now able to show a little bit of my album. (I'll post pics of the whole thing after convention. Hopefully I'll place in the top 10 - or even win!).
The theme this year is "Celebrating the Magical Moments that Make Life Special". The album needed to be five 2 page layouts. Our 5 days with Evan were incredibly magical, and even though it didn't end how we would have liked, I thought this would be a good way to scrap our memories of him. It was a difficult album to put together, but ultimately quite healing. And I hope that it is a testimony of God's incredible love and power. He is continuing to bind up my broken heart, and I'm so grateful for our time with Evan.
That said, here is your sneak peak - the cover of the album. Stay tuned for the video in the next day or two. (To see a larger image, just click on it).

Card Challenge Entry
My card uses a heat embossing resist. I used detail clear embossing powder, and embossed the image onto Cranberry cardstock. Then I coated the whole thing in black acrylic paint, let it dry, and then used a baby wipe to rub the black paint from the areas that were clear embossed.
The result is that wherever the embossing was, the red cardstock shows through the black paint. This also works well with other colors of paint and cardstock. I did this card using the same technique.
Here are the challenge details. You can also visit Kristina's blog to see more of her artwork and previous challenges. Her "Make a Card Monday" videos were the inspiration behind my "Classy Crafts" tutorials.

July Card Class Cards
These puppies are simple and sweet - and hopefully quick. We've only got 2 hours for class. =)
