Last night Dave finished off a pan of brownies, except for a small square that I asked him to save for Samantha - for her to enjoy AFTER she had a good lunch. Sammie is typically very good about asking before taking, and rarely does she help herself to food, so I had no problem with Dave just leaving it out on the counter.
This morning our sweet girl helped herself to the treat (she often gets up before me). The Holy Spirit must have been nudging on her soul, because she woke me up and confessed - or maybe she was bragging. I really couldn't tell. I sent her to time out - because she knows she's not allowed to help herself to dessert. Then we had a little talk and she apologized...
Sammie: "I'm sorry mommy"
Me: "I forgive you, honey"
S: "But I was curious!"
M: "Sam, sometimes being curious is wrong."
S: "Well George can be curious all the time He helps himself to food."
M: "George doesn't live in our house. We have different rules than he does. If George lived with us, he would be in time out a LOT!"
S: "Oh. Cuz he bees naughty?"
M: "That's right."
S: "If George lived here we'd have to get bunkbeds!"
And the conversation went on from there. It just amazes me that at 3 1/2 Sam has such an incredible grasp on negotiating. She knows the rules, but she's started to make excuses for why she does naughty things. It fascinates me that such a little kid could pull such great arguments out of her head. She will definitely keep me on my toes.

okay, okay - I'll model
So none of my cute friends came forward to model mobius scarves for me. Ahh shucks... that means I had to model them myself.
I doubt that Tyra and the gang would be very complimentary of my shots, but I did try to "smile with my eyes" and be "fierce". LOL! Anyway, here's a better look at how the mobius scarves fit an adult. I tried to get shots with and without a coat so you can see how they fit and don't bunch under like normal scarves.
Also, if you are considering ordering a mobius, please know that I'm currently about 2-3 weeks out on getting orders through. So if you are thinking about one for a Christmas gift, you may want to get your name on my list relatively soon (say in the next week or two) to ensure that it ships in time. For color selection, scroll down two posts. Neck warmers are $25, hoodies $40, and scarves $40. Shipping is approximately $5 each (but I can combine shipping on multiple orders).

Copic Colors
Hey Ya'll...
I've had so many emails about copic colors I thought I'd post this here. It is my opinion that in starting your copic collection, you should look at your images that you plan to color, and determine the markers to purchase that way. If you will be coloring animals then a larger selection of browns, oranges, and greys will be best. If you will be coloring people, don't forget the flesh tones. If you are coloring plants and flowers, make sure you get a few good greens, pinks and reds.
Once you have determined the color families you need, then it is a good idea to purchase 3-4 shades of color in that family. If you need a grey blue, for instance, make sure to purchase a very light grey blue, a light grey blue, a medium grey blue and a dark grey blue. That way you can take full advantage of the blending capabilities these markers allow.
You should also get a good grey (C1 or C2)so that you can add shadowing to your images.
This is the list of 43 markers I got on my first copic shopping spree:
V: 91,93, 95
RV: 13, 23, 34,
R: 02, 20, 22, 27, 35, 81, 83
YR: 15, 21, 23, 68
YG:05, 25
G: 21, 24, 28, 40, 99
BG: 01, 05, 72, 75, 78
B: 21, 24, 45
E: 0000, 02, 13, 25, 27, 29, 35, 37, 39
C: 1
colorless blender
I planned to color mostly my Bella stamps, a few Rileys, and these colors also seemed to match my CTMH supplies really well.
Finally, for the best place to purchase Copics that I have found, go to www.carpediemstore.com. Sketch markers are $3.95 each! What a bargain!

The Mobius - my latest passion!
Any long time reader of my blog knows that my other passion is knitting. (My first passion being scrapbooking or Dave - depending on who you ask. Oooh wait - there's photography too. hmmm...)
Any long time reader of my blog knows that one of my MANY passions is knitting. ;) This summer I discovered a unique scarf in the knitting shop in Cannon Beach, OR. It was like a scarf, but with a connected circular band shape instead of long rectangle. It also had a curious twist and no matter how diligently I looked, I could not find a seam! Curious and baffled, I inquired of the store manager how on earth this was done. She smiled knowingly at me, and then led me to Cat Bordhi's book on Magical Knitting. $80 later (you know I needed the book, and some new needles AND yarn or course!) and I was completely hooked.
Since this summer I've knitted over 10 of these beauties, and am now starting to drift away from patterns and do some experimenting on my own. Below is a picture of the three mobii (or is it mobiuses?) I knit this week. All three were done in a really nice acrylic blend of yarn that is super soft, super think and SUPER warm! (normally i prefer natural fibers, but well... this yarn is yummy.)
The green one is a neck warmer for an adult, but as you'll see could also work well for a small child. I love it because it is very elegant on, and warm, but is much less bulky than a normal scarf. You can wear it with a coat without getting those weird bulges under the coat, or tails that fly away and come untucked when left out of the coat. Genius right?!?!
The pink one is a scarf and about 30 inches long from neck to bottom and 10" wide (and looks fabulous doubled around the neck). I plan to redo it to have a rib like the others. It looks a little scrawny in the picture, but in actuality it's quite lush. Changing it to a rib will make a big difference in that area.
Finally, the unfinished one is going to be modified into a neck warmer/hoodie. It is slightly taller and wider that the normal neck warmer so that it can be pulled up over the ears like a hood, but still keep the neck fully covered and warm. I'll be sure to model it when it's done. :)
I'll be selling these on my etsy shop soon... As soon as I can get some decent pictures of them - and maybe a cute adult model. I feel funny modeling my own knits - I wonder if people see me wearing the items if they will still want to buy them. Weird, I know...

Anyway - the proceeds from these knits will all go toward our adoption fund. The neck warmers will be $25, the neck warmer hoodies will be $30, and the full scarves will be $35. If you likey, you can place your order with me now and skip etsy altogether! I'll have a whole rainbow of colors to choose from as well.
My "willing" and ever so lovely model. See how elegant the twist is - and how the neck warmer lays so nicely against the chest? Obviously this is pretty big on Sammie. It's meant for an adult neck and would be more snug to keep out the cold.
This is what the hoodie will look like from the front:
and the side:
The adult neck warmer size actually works well as a child's hoodie size.
Funny thing about this green one. My husband saw me finishing it up and immediately asked if it was for him! I told him he could have it if he agreed to advertise for me. Haha... So you if you have a hard to shop for man in your life, he might like one too. =)
My email address is nonapearl@firebin.net if you want to email me about getting a mobius of your very own. I'll try to get a color swatch up soon!
Happy Birthday to me (a little early)
It seems a tradition has sprung up at our home in the last few years. Although mainly occurring with Dave, this tradition has suddenly wormed its way into my heart as well. What tradition am I referring to? Early birthday presents.
I'm not talking about a day or two early either. No.... try MONTHS early! It all began in 2005 when my sweet hubby wanted a new stereo system for his birthday (which is at the end of August). We happened to be visiting friends in Portland in May, who just happened to work at Target, where they just happened to get a 10% discount. And by sheer coincidence alone Target sold the very system that Dave had been eyeing! It was fate! HA!
Long story short, Dave got his stereo in May, and didn't have to wait until the end of August to use it. Fast forward to 2006. Dave managed to swindle an iPod with two months to spare. In 2007 he got $300 in new work clothes, this time only a month early. Moving forward to this year, Dave got a new, cool, snazzy pedal board thingee to use with his Variax electric guitar (in APRIL!).
So, following his example (and knowing that with the adoption our funds will become increasingly more limited as time goes by), I picked out and purchased and have now been using MY birthday gift this year - which is at the end of November. I "received" 43 of the most wonderful, amazing markers in the world - Copic Sketch! I'm in love... now if only I could figure out how to get the rest of the 301 colors.... sigh!

Exciting Packages today!
I'm sorry for not blogging in a while. This week has been hectic! Today alone started with Bible study (first session of the new year), followed by preschool for Sam - and she had snack and show and tell to bring). I have to go get her in a few minutes, and my evening is hopping too. So this will just be a short entry.
I got 2 boxes today and am expecting a 3rd! YAY! The first was a SU! order for a friend - although I did add one tiny little thing in it for myself. The second was from our adoption agency. It seems we have a few more (read over an inch) of paperwork to fill out. YIKES!
And the 3rd is my **WAY** early birthday present from Dave. I splurged and bought 43 copic markers! Up until now I've been a copic virgin, so I can't wait for them to arrive. I'll have lots to share in the coming weeks, so don't give up on me!
I've also got a new video tutorial in the works, and my goal is to get it out in the next 3 days or so. It's going to be awesome... and for a sneak peek - here is the card I'll be teaching:

A new friend!
I met an awesome woman today named Angie. I didn't actually "meet" her, but we connected online after I purchased a digital banner from her. Her etsy shop is fabulous (go check it out right now!!) and after conversing with her we discovered we are both in the process of adopting! They recently had a 19 month old boy placed with them, and are hoping to hear good news soon that they can offically adopt him.
And if you were paying attention, you might have noticed I said "we are both in the process of adopting". That's right - Dave and I are officially trying to adopt again. We've told a lot of people already, so I thought it was safe to post here. =) We just sent in our WACAP application and will be going to our first meeting the first week of October. Right now we are leaning towards adopting from Ethiopia or India, but will wait until we hear more about both options before we make our final decision.
Anyway - back to my new friend Angie. In addition to her sweet etsy shop, she also has a great website where she features incredible hand made items (made by her and others). I hope you take a few minutes to visit and see all the delightful things she has to offer!
And if you have some time, please say prayers for both Angie's family and ours. We are so excited and hopeful to see the Lord bless us with children!

Acrylic Album - "Casey"
I made this lovely little book for my mom and dad. They lost their dog Casey about a month ago, and while they have new puppies filling their lives, I thought they might want a tribute album to remember Casey by. I used the new CTMH Acrylic album. Though a little intimidating at first, it was **SO** much fun to put together once I got going. The papers were from a promo CTMH did last January and are now retired.

B-I-N-B-O
My sweet daughter learned a new song at preschool...
We all know it. "There was a farmer who had a dog and bingo was his name-o..." (Is it stuck in your head yet?). However, Samantha doesn't quite get the spelling so well. She's hollering all over the house, "B-I-N-B-O..." I've tried to tell her otherwise, but we all know how 3 year olds are.
It wouldn't be so bad, except that when she sings it, it sounds more like "b-i-M-b-o" and I would hate to have her sing that in public. I can only imagine trying to explain it to another mother or worse - a little old lady - at the grocery store. --- "Why yes, we DO sing about loose women in our home. Don't you?" :)
Unfortunately, I actually have to go to the store right now to get something for dinner. Wish me luck that we make it in and out before she decides to sing. hehe...

Catalog Release Party - Pics
I had my big Fall/Winter CTMH Idea Book Release Party on Friday. It was a total blast - and 19 people came! Whoohoo! I thought I would post pictures of how I had everything set up so those that couldn't make it could have a "virtual" party experience. =)
A display of my art and a swatch book of all of CTMH's current papers.
My mantle, with new artwork and the Reflections book.
Closer view of the silent auction table. The flowers are actually pens.
One of my table displays. This one had a new consultant kit, Christmas card workshop signups (examples on the boards along the wall), and scrapbook class workshop signups.
The new consultant kit - just $99!!
Two of my Christmas Card Workshops displayed and sign up sheet.
Sept's Scrapbook Class example and sign up sheet. I also had Oct and Nov displayed.
My Operation Smile Layout - we raised over $40 for OS at this event!!!
The other display table.

Just Because Card Kit/Friendship Stamps display. I'll be having a brunch next Saturday for those who purchased the card kit or the Just Because stamps.
Sept. Card Class display.
Live Auction table. I had 15 items for the live auction. People could preview them here. Most of these items are in the front, with fun things to look at in the back (New Stamp Pad Organizer, Cherish and Imagine book, Memory Keeper Box, and Sammie layout were not auction items).
The make and take card. I had this set up in stations downstairs in my craft studio.
The simple, but yummy treats. Cookies, brownies, coffee and water. I always tend to make the mistake of serving too much food. So this year I went VERY simple and it worked out great!
YUM!
I hope you enjoyed this quick tour! Please let me know if you have any questions about anything. It was a great night and we had such a wonderful time.
Here's the living room. On the coffee table was a silent auction set up. There were 10 items, and people could place bids on the paper for these items. The silent auction closed at 8, but some items reached their full bids earlier than that.
Just Because Card Kit/Friendship Stamps display. I'll be having a brunch next Saturday for those who purchased the card kit or the Just Because stamps.
