A little knitting today...

I made a promise to myself a few months ago not to purchase any new "play" yarn until I'd finished all the projects that had been piling up. As the months went by I slowly finished projects and depeleted the stash!

Combine that with several orders for custom knitted items, a huge New Year's day sale at knitting store "A" and a Christmas gift card to knitting store "B" and you can imagine the fun I've had shopping the past two days.

Dave was a total sweetheart about the whole business and gave me time to knit for most of today! So, to show my appreciation I whipped up this fun ribbed "McSteamy" hat. (Named such because it is meant to be knit in the time it takes to watch 1-2 of your fave Grey's episodes). I used a baby alpaca wool that is to die for soft and cozy, but still super warm. I think these would make awesome gifts for the menfolk in my life too, so this probably won't be the last you see of these. =)

Isn't he just the cutest thing EVER?

That's a great project, Nona! I hear you about the not buying new yarn til you finish the projects. I've actually returned some skeins that I won't use to speed up the process. LOL

I think Steve might like a hat/cap like that...I'll have to find a similar pattern. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love the fact that you named the hat...LOL! Way cool! It looks great! You are very, very talented. Oh to have 1/2 the talent you do. Wow! :)

Hi Jeanne,
The pattern is very easy...
CO 64 onto 16" circs. Needle size will vary with yarn used. Gague is 3st per inch. Use a K2P2 ribbing until the hat measures 7-8" (or desired length).
Decrease as follows:
row1 - k2tog,p2
2 - k2tog, p1
3 - k1,p1
4 - k1, p1
5 - k2tog
6 - k2tog, pull tail through

Cute hat, Nona. I really need to make something for My Man. He has resolved to shave his head bald this month. He's gonna freeze! LOL!

I am so impressed that you finish a project in a sitting.
