Ever have one of THOSE days?

I think I have a case of the Mondays. Today was incredibly difficult, and Sam was a big part of that. I even called and made an appointment to go look at pre-schools - which is actually quite humorous because just last week I was telling my friend that I didn't think pre-school was something we wanted to do.

I won't go into details about my morning, but it was after noon before I got a shower. While I was getting dressed I heard Sammie giggling in her room. She's not much a giggler, so I was immediately suspicious. When I peeked in, I saw Sam under her bouncey horse with a marker in hand. She had colored all over the horse, her coat, and the table. I guess I can be thankful that she was using her washable markers instead of the permanent ones. I made sure to take pictures, even though I was pretty angry. Then I took away all her markers - and that's when she got very sad.

I know this isn't much of a big deal in some houses, but for our house it is. Sam is not a destructive child, and as of about 2 months ago she wasn't typically a sassy or disobedient child either. My friends tell me that the real attitude begins with the terrible THREES not the 2s as is the commonly said. I'm inclined to believe them.

I think someday I can laugh at this... but for now I'm not ready yet.

"But I want my markers momma!"

Note: Our evening is going much better. Sam just came to me and told me she loves me. They sure know the right thing to say sometimes. ;) And I'm almost ready to laugh about the marker incident.

We all have those days - it comes with the kids, but at least they are easy to forgive, right? Especially when it's nothing a little Magic Eraser won't fix. I have a 3 yr old diva myself and she's the worst of the bunch with if comes to mischievousness.

Anyway, I tend to lurk, but since I have a minute I just wanted to say that I love your blog and I hope your week is going better.
Oh and the bear you knit is adorable!

I had "that" day too yesterday. My son got a horrible haircut, so we had to get it fixed. Then, my husband ran over my brand new double stroller in the garage. Just glad today is a new day. Hope today is better for you!

((hugs)) BTDT--in fact, Xander's markers were just thrown away last night as I was completely fed up with the drawing on non-paper items. He did it just once or twice at age 3, then nothing until about 9 months ago, and now he's just being naughty. Grrr....

You'll survive, and those photos will make great pages...

Nona, When Drew turned 3 - almost to the DAY - I called my mom and said "Why didn't you warn me about THREE?". She just laughed!

And on the preschool subject - its really more for Mom's sanity than your sweet girl's "education" :-) I can remember dropping Drew off at pre-school and just sitting in the car because it was quiet!

Oh the memories... when she's older you'll all have belly laughs over the Marker Incident! (Just ask my Dave about the "Screwdriver Incident"!!!).

Prayers for you, you're a great mommy!
Blessings,
Ann
