Evan Album: Cover and Page 1: "Highway"

Journaling reads:

The Highway…

A journey, a path, a highway: all metaphors for life. We can choose our direction, and the road we wish to take, but we aren’t guaranteed a smooth ride. And, most often, it is the bumps in the road that lead us to live in the moment.

Sometimes those moments are joyful, some sorrowful. Some moments test our faith to the breaking point. But all moments can be cause for celebration when we believe God is good, and remember that we are alive!

On this highway, I90 East from Seattle to Spokane, WA, our family began a journey that elevated us to the highest of highs, and plummeted us to lowest of lows. If not for our faith in God Almighty, and His perfect plan, we might have become lost in the midst of this road that we chose.

This highway led us to our son, and five of the most amazing, miraculous, beautiful days we have ever experienced. These five days were magical – and we want to remember them, and celebrate them forever.

This is Evan’s story

Found this on the ctmh bul board and had to see all the photos!! Wow...what a beautiful piece of art and heartfelt and "hopefully" cathartic journaling. I am the adoptive mom of four beautiful children. All are involved in open adoptions. We did have one very painful almost adoption. We weren't able to ever see the baby girl, however, I still have pangs and for a long time I felt an unbelievable worry about what was happening with "my child" :o( God Bless you and your family and in your continuing journey!!
hugs,
HOlly

Nona- We had an almost identical experience with our first child-just got an unexpected call and we were blessed with a beautiful daughter. There was a 10 day waiting period before we went to court, so I told myself that if it did not turn out well that I would be thankful that I was blessed to be a mommy for 10 days. Thankfully all went well.
Our 2nd adoption did not. We were waiting for the call to come any day to come pick up our baby, instead we got the call that birthmom was keeping him. I know just what you are going through and it's not always easy. Keep the faith. Though you only had Evan for a short time, you will always have those memories to cherish.
