Another Creative University Make and Take

After seeing this I think you will ALL want to attend Creative University (Tresa Black's retreat) next year. She is such an *amazing* artist! WoW!! This was one of the optional make and takes...

It features a 12x12 canvas that we painted, then embossed. We added distressed paper, wet cardstock paper roses, painted and embellished paper flowers, and distressed metal accents. The letters are stickers that were sponged. Most of the paper layers also have a coating of mod podge for durability.

This project was pretty involved, but totally worth it! I'm thinking of making more of these for mother's day gifts (and my craft fair in the fall).

Here are some close ups for detail:

Nona: This is BEAUTIFUL! I've been trying to come up with an idea for a canvas art that would be a good gift for a family who's lost a loved one...think you did it for me! :)
Can you tell me how you did the white leaves under the word "Cherish"? Did you stamp it onto a thin paper and use modge podge? Also, how did you do the flourishes in the corner? Stamp with paint?
Thanks!

Love this - what part is embossed? The white florals in the background? They look like stickers or paper - just love this!

Very elegant! I love the rose like centers on the blooms. Geez! I wish I would've gone with you. Kicking myself. Just bad timing. Hopefully next year.

The corners of the frame were embossed right on the canvas. The circular flowers were embossed onto tissue paper then mod-podged onto the canvas.

The "Cherish" letters are stickers that were sponged first.

Tresa's retreat is once a year. I've gone twice now - once in 2008 and then just last weekend. It's always a blast. You can read up about it on her blog. You can click to her blog from the link on my main page.
