Joyful

Today is Evan's first birthday. Above is a picture of Sammie holding Evan the day he was born.

For those that don't know our story, last year we were in the process of adopting a baby boy. Everything seemed to be going fine, and our birth mom sure about her decision. We took Evan home and spent five amazing days together. On that last day, however, his mom changed her mind and we had to give him back to her. You can read about it if you go back through my blog archives.

Today could have been a very difficult day - a very sad day. Today we could have focused on our loss, and disappointment, but we are not. We serve a God who is good, caring, loving, and a God who brings hope. Our God knows the desire that we have for more children, and He will soon fulfill that dream.

Yesterday we got a call from our social worker Liz. A birth mom in Texas saw our profile and picked us to parent her baby girl! She is due to give birth in July and we are so very thrilled! I'll share more as I can, but for now please keep us and this birth mom in your prayers! We are so excited and trust that God will continue to work just as he has this past year.

Psalm 30:11-12 - "You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever."

Nona! I am so excited for you. I cannot even begin to imagine the joy you and your family must be feeling right now. As hard as it was to lose Evan, what an amazing ray of sunshine that came into your life just as you celebrate his on year birthday. You are right. God is good. He knows each one of us personally and knows our needs. He loves us and will bless us with our righteous desires. Congratulations. You, your family, this little girl who is going to join your family, and her birth mother will be in my prayers.

Oh Nona, I've got tears in my eyes now. What wonderful news. I'll be praying that everything works out this time. I do know, as I know you do, that there is a purpose to everything. Sometimes we wonder what it is or why we have to know so much pain. I'm so glad for your positive outlook on things. Keep us posted as you can.

I had to read through your post twice to make sure I read it correctly - before I got so excited for you!!! And then I thought, well of course the birth mom would pick you from a bunch of profiles. The amount of love you have to give is limitless. You all will be in my prayers! Thank you for sharing this journey with us.

Oh Nona! That is wonderful! Praying for your family to be fully ready to accept this little girl into your home in July, and for this birth mom-that she would know the Lord, and that she would rely on him to help her through the heart-wrenching act of giving away her little girl. Praying for health for her and this little one, a safe labor and delivery, and ease in the transfer of care to you.

What a blessing!
