New House

We had our inspection of the new house yesterday, and it went perfectly!  Our inspector was incredibly thorough, and he was amazed at the workmanship and attention to detail that our builder put into our home.  He said we were very blessed because not all new construction homes are built as well.  Whew!  One less thing to worry about before moving day!  :)

Speaking of moving day, we have our final walk-through of the house tomorrow afternoon, and hopefully we will close on Friday and get to start moving in!  We already have our fridge ready for delivery, and have lined up someone to install flooring in my scraproom and the office next Wednesday.  Looks like it might be a busy weekend!

I was able to get some photos on Sunday!  Here they are.  Don't mind the dust and carpet fuzz.  That should all be gone by tomorrow.  :)

they finished the front steps!

Our new house

Things are really moving around here - no pun intended!  The inspection on our house went well, and all the financing for the new owners seems to be in order.  We are looking to close on April 2nd, so that means we need to be OUT by April 4th.  CRAAAAZY.

I've been going through moments of sadness when I think about leaving.  I moved around a lot as a kid, so I'm not usually emotional about moving.  It just seemed to be part of life.  This time it feels different.  This was our first house as a married couple - our first really BIG purchase together.  I was pregnant with Sammie in this house, and have decorated her room twice!  She took her first steps down our long hallway (while I was teaching a card class no less).  My CTMH business has been built in this house.  We've experienced the lows of failed adoptions and the highs of welcoming Ruby into our home.  I've redone her room THREE times in the seven and a half years we've lived here.  There are so many memories contained within these walls, and it will be difficult to say goodbye.

But then, I start thinking about our NEW house.  Yes!  We put an offer on a new construction home a few miles away.  We look to move in around April 30th or possibly sooner if it is finished early.   Yesterday we got to go pick out carpet, tile, hardwoods, etc and it was so fun imagining what our new home would look like inside!  It is so much BIGGER than what we have now.  My classroom space will be more than double the size.  Dave will have a whole garage bay just for his beer making!  We'll have 4 bedrooms upstairs and one down (for the office), and we'll be just 2 minutes from Sammie's school.  We're currently 20 min away, so my "commute" is dramatically cut down, for which I'm so grateful.

So while it is sad to leave the old, we are definitely looking forward to the new.  :)  I'll try to keep you all posted as we go along.  Thankfully, Dave's parents have graciously allowed us to live with them in the interim, so we won't be homeless for a month!  :)  Now I get the joyful task of trying to figure out what to do with all our stuff!

House News

We would appreciate your prayers today!  The people buying our house are having an inspection on the condo they are selling today.  We need that to go well so their condo sale will continue to go smoothly.  We also have an inspection on our house today, which we need to go well so that our house sale will close on time.

Finally, we have been exchanging offers/counter-offers on a new construction home over the past few days.  We are so hopeful that all the details of these offers will be finalized today and we can be assured of having a home to go to once we move out of our current place.

Thanks for thinking of us!  Once things look like it will all work out I'll post pictures.

Great News!

God is smiling down on us!  This week we got an offer on our house, and we have accepted!  So you may be hearing a little less from me in the next few weeks.  We have just under 30 days until closing, and really don't have any place to go picked out yet.

We are looking into a few options, and I'll be going house hunting with our realtor today.  Worst case scenario - we just get an apartment for a little while until we find that "perfect" place for us.

Just thought I'd share this fantastic news with you!  I know big things are in the works!
