13 days? Seriously?

I'm not exactly sure how 13 days went by between this and my last post.  I'm actually a little shocked because every day I'd wake up thinking, "Oh! I've got to blog today" and every day I'd be too busy to actually get anything posted.

In case you care - these have been my activities for the past 13 days:

9/2 - knitting tutoring session, doc appt for Sam, hip hop dance class for me
9/3 - preparing for market (aka - knitting ALL day), dave home from a week long biz trip
9/4 - market
9/5 - church, prep for card class
9/6 - no school, friends came over for dinner
9/7 - dinner with a friend
9/8 - hair appointment, tattoo appt (more on this in a bit!)
9/9 - hip hop dance class
9/10 - preparing for market
9/11 - market all day, knitting club
9/12 - church, afternoon card class, evening card class
9/13 - recess duty at school, evening card class
9/14 - dave leaves for biz trip, knitting tutorial session

In addition to what was listed, I also cranked out 80 gift card holders, 20 regular cards, 14 pairs of knitted gloves, 1 moebius, and 7 baby hats.  So it might make a little more sense why blogging - though on my mind - is not at the top of my list.

Okay - back to the really fun/cool news...

This year has been all about transformation for me.  I've changed my body through weight loss of about 40 pounds.  I've changed my attitude and am trying LOTS of new things including a weekly hip hop dance class.  I've decided to not let fear keep me from doing what I want to do.

There have been 2 things that I've been DYING to do for a very long time, and last week I did BOTH of them on the same day!

The first has been to get my hair cut and styled like Mia Michaels from So You Think You Can Dance.  I love her hair and have been wanting to do the whole "mohawk" thing for a while, but was worried I couldn't pull it off.  (This coming from the girl who shaved her head for the prom in 11th grade, and had purple and bleached blonde hair most of the rest of high school).  But on Wednesday morning last week, I decided to just go for it.  And I LOVE IT!  :)  It's really more of a "faux-hawk" than a mohawk, but it is SO me, and I just get excited every morning when it's time to style my hair.  :)

Here's a little pic for ya:

Having gotten the hair do (and being childless for another hour) I decided to take a little trek over to Deep Roots Tattoo.  I'd been doing research on Seattle/Lynnwood area tattoo places, and really liked this place.  After spending just a few minutes with the crew, I knew this was the shop for me, and meeting Brooks (the artist) solidified that decision.  He was so friendly, and down to earth - like a goofy, inked up teddy bear.  When he said he had time to do my tat that evening, I jumped on it, and Wendi (my best friend) and I came back to the shop at around 6.

Here are a few pictures of me getting my ink!  It hurt like a bleep, but thankfully was over quickly.  I'm in love with my tat.  It's exactly what I wanted and looks so fantastic on my arm.  I've already got ideas for more... but don't worry mom - i'll give it some time before going in for another.  :)

I'd selected this dove over six years ago.  It represents the Holy Spirit, and my walk with the Lord.  One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 30:21 and it inspired the placement of the tattoo.  The verse says, "Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left."

So that's the last two weeks in a nutshell.  :)  Hopefully I'll have more time to blog other cool things going on in my life, because there really is a ton of cool stuff happening.

Nona, I stand up and applaud you for all the changes you are making! Congrats on the weight loss! You look fabulous. Your hair looks SO fun (and it's definitely not something I could pull off)...you can and with such style. A little leery about the tattoo as it's not my thing at all, but love the story behind it.

You've done all this AND that list of to-dones you've got going on?!

You are one amazing woman, and to think you hinted at more? Wow!!

Nona, I am also a CTMH consultant and follow your blog religiously, although I do not post often. I love all your posts, but this one in particular spoke to me. I love your courage to do these things that you have wanted to do but fear stood in your way. I too have had "plans" for a someday when I could get up the guts to see them through. You are so motivating. I hope to soon be as fearless as you. Love the hair and tattoo!

Makes me tired just reading that list - WOW! to be young again. Congrats on the tat! :) Very nice! And the Word connected with the tattoo is precious. He does guide us.
God bless!

Whoo hoo my friend!! Love the hair, love the tatoo, love your new zest for life!

Aren't tattoos addicting?! They're like Pringles: once you pop, you can't stop!
