Friday Photo Challenge - Snow Pictures

Snow... yes, I'd say that is a perfect topic for Jenn's photo challenge this week (errr - i mean last week). We braved the winter white stuff ALL weekend! We left for Spokane on Friday night, stayed for a quick visit (see below), and came home today.

Even though it's spring, mother nature obviously hasn't gotten the memo. The snow was so bad Friday night that we only made it about 100 miles in 4 hours. We had to hole up in a hotel in Leavenworth until morning because it was too bad to drive in. The picture above was taken looking out our hotel window. As we drove home today, we braved a near white out for 50 miles before FINALLY hitting clear roads for the rest of the drive home. We're praying that it clears up (for good) before we have to go back.

The reason we went to Spokane is that with our son's due date looming, we really wanted to meet our birth momma in person. We had only spoken through a mutual friend, and we were hoping to connect with her face to face. We thought this may remove some of the fears (on all sides) and help us all feel more comfortable when the big day arrives.

I'm so glad we did. Our birth mom is amazing. She's smart, funny, and beautiful. She is kind and hardworking. And she loves her son. I know that she loves him because this choice is the most difficult thing that I think she's ever gone through. But she loves him enough to know that she needs help. We are so thankful that God has put us in her life, and that she has agreed to place her son with us! We feel blessed beyond measure.

So, even with snow, snow, and more snow, we were very glad we made the trip. Now we're just waiting by the phone for that call that will have us heading back to pick up our son!
