Do you ever have something happen that just tugs at your heart strings? I had one of those moments tonight.
Sammie was crying after we put her to bed, so I went to check on her. She said she had had a bad dream. We talked and prayed about it, and then I snuggled with her for a few minutes. As I got up to leave, she whimpered - "but mom, what if I have another bad dream?" I told her that she could pray, and ask Jesus to give her only good dreams. And then I told her that I try to think about something that makes me really, really happy as I fall asleep.
Then I asked her what her most favorite thing in the whole world was. "You mommy!" was her answer. Awwwwwwwww! My heart just melted at that. I gave her a big hug and said that she could think about me and all the fun things we do together, and she would have wonderful dreams.
Then she asked what I think about when I fall asleep. "I think about you, Sammie. You are my happy thought! And as we think about each other tonight we will both have great dreams!"
It was such a touching moment. I know I need to scrap it, but for now, I'm going to blog it - so that it is captured forever.

Beach Day
I met a really sweet new customer this month at my card class, and she commissioned me to make her about 25 cards for her office! She works for a non-profit organization, and they send a ton of cards. I started working on them, and here are the first 3. She needed some "little girl get well" so here they are. As soon as my new Ian stamps (from TGF) arrive, I'll make and show off the little boy cards. :)
Except for the stamps, and the little plastic bead things everything is CTMH. I used the That's Amore papers and matching Journaling Jots for layering.

In other news... today Sammie and I needed to get out of the house. We decided to go to the beach with our preschool friends Laurie (mom), Dylan (classmate) and Haley (little sister). We had a blast! It's so fun to watch Sammie and Dylan play. They are often seen holding hands - at least when Dylan isn't trying throwing sand at her or growling. LOL - I keep telling Sammie that that's what little boys do when they like you. Sometimes they don't grow out of it either!
Here is Haley and Laurie. I switched back to my 50mm lens today, which I haven't played with in a few months. So my focus was a little off in this shot (as I was getting used to it again). It was sure fun using it again though. Forgot how much I love that lens!

They wanted water for the sand toys. That full pail weighs about as much as she does!

Sammie's Room, part 2
Here are pictures of Sammie's brand new room! It is PINK - shockingly pink... as in so pink it glows even when the lights are off pink. But we all love it - especially Sammie.
Speaking in Close To My Heart colors, three of the walls are Baby Pink, and the back accent wall is Hollyhock. Her grandma Marie had made her quilt last year, and it goes so well in the new room. The colors of the quilt were actually our inspiration from the start!
In case you are wondering, the "playhouse" (the thing the doll house is sitting on) was an etsy find. It's a cover for a card table and Sammie adores it. It's made of felt and has 4 interactive sides. This is the beauty parlor, but MissPrettyPretty, the artist that makes them, has several other styles as well. Sam has just adored it and plays in it constantly.
Also, the bookcase and fabric bins are from Target, and the whole combo was under $80. It's surprisingly sturdy and well made (for the price). I'm even debating getting a second one for the baby's room.
At this point the only thing missing in Sam's new room is some artwork for the walls. We are waiting on that until we can find something she loves - or until we have time to create pieces ourselves.

"Family Adventure Day" photos...

On Sunday I still needed one last stamp on my passport for the LYS, and the yarn store was on Bainbridge Island. The only way to get there is on a ferry, so after church Dave and I decided to take Sammie on a little family adventure.
It had been a while since we last took Sam on a ferry, so it seemed like a completely new experience to her. She loved that they said "All Aboard", and was a little perterbed that they only said it going and not coming back. She was also miffed that a little boy was running, because she's a stickler for rules and it frustrates her when people don't follow the rules. But, she loved watching the cars drive on and off the boat. She loved being able to see the birds and sea lions in the water as we sailed past. And she loved that I had thought to pack chocolate pudding in our sack lunches.
Once on the Bainbridge side, we enjoyed a leisurely walk in the gorgeous sunshine. It was about 8 blocks to the yarn store, but there were lots of other cute shops along the way so we window shopped.
The Churchmouse Yarn and Teas shop was amazing. Their stock was amazing - I saw so many yarns I'd not seen anywhere else. The layout was fantastic too and they had so many samples knit up. It was all so luxurious and tempting that I succombed to a ruffle scarf pattern that is to DIE for (and of course the $35 in yarn to go with it). They have incredible service also - we were served tea and biscuits while there. We missed "sherry hour" by about 30 minutes. LOL... If it wasn't so far away, I think I would visit this store VERY often.
We ended the day by getting all natural smoothies (and Sammie got a cone) at Mora's Creamery. Wow - they make a mean smoothie. It was sooooo tasty. However, they only sell one size, so in retrospect Dave and I could have split one because they are HUGE. We walked back to the ferry with very full (but happy) tummies.

Sammie's Hair
Last week Sammie decided she had had enough of the tangles, and asked if we could get her hair cut. Our cousin Chris does an amazing job, so I called her up and made the appointment. Sam was so excited! Here's a look at before and after:
